Help Dr. Werner and Our Team Help the Community: Contribute to Our Fall Food Drive!

October 28th, 2013

Dr. Erich Werner and our entire team are proud to announce we are partnering with Cityteam International this holiday season to provide donations and other food items to the homeless and those less fortunate in our community so that they may provide a Thanksgiving dinner for their families.

Now through November 21st, Dr. Werner and our team encourage our patients and their families to drop off non-perishable food items at our office. These include macaroni and cheese, stuffing, canned tuna, instant potatoes, jelly, gravy, canned fruit, canned milk, soups, peanut butter, pasta or rice, canned veggies, canned chicken, and other holiday food.

Our friends at Cityteam International will pick up your kind donations on November 5th and again on November 21st.

Did you know that one in four families are turned away daily from local food pantries simply because there isn't enough food to meet the demand? Dr. Werner and our team would like to ensure everyone in our community can celebrate Thanksgiving with a nice, well-rounded meal. We appreciate any support we can get! If you are interested in donating, please visit our office at 15000 Los Gatos Blvd Suite, Suite #6 Los Gatos, CA 95032

By joining us in this food drive, Dr. Werner and our team can help provide enough food to those who truly cannot afford it, so that no one has to go to bed hungry this Thanksgiving. Let’s make this holiday season special for them.

About Cityteam International:

Cityteam International helps the homeless, the less fortunate, and individuals recovering from addiction with food, shelter, or a place to live. Their programs serve not only those in the United States, but globally as well.

Guard your mouth this Summer

June 27th, 2012

A lot of our patients play sports, and now is a great time to remind all of you to take care of your mouth while participating in summer sports – especially contact sports such as soccer, football, baseball and basketball.

One of the most important pieces of sports equipment you can wear on the field this summer is a mouth guard. A well-fitted mouth guard allows you to breathe and speak more clearly, in addition to protecting your mouth. Only by using a mouth guard can athletes avoid serious mouth and jaw injuries. The next time you’re in for an appointment, we encourage you to let us know if you’re playing or planning to play any sports. We can recommend a mouth guard that will work best for you. Also, here are five quick tips for keeping yourself safe during sport activities this summer:

• Wear a helmet
• Stretch before and after a game or practice
• Wear protective eyewear
• Wear a face shield to avoid scratched or bruised skin
• Be observant, even as a spectator

We hope this helps! You can always contact us if you have any questions! Good luck on the field!

Smile! June is National Smile Month!

June 6th, 2012

Can you believe it’s already June? Today, Dr. Werner and our team thought we’d tell you June is National Smile Month, and a good time to remind all our patients to practice good oral hygiene between your visits to our office!

Below are a few simple steps you can take to improve your oral health so that you may celebrate National Smile Month for many, many years to come:

* Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
* Floss everyday to clean between your teeth.
* Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks
* Visit us regularly (every 6 months or as recommended by Dr. Werner)!

If you have questions about any of these tips, we encourage you to give us a call, ask our team during your next visit or ask us on Facebook!

How does fluoride help prevent tooth decay?

May 21st, 2012

Fluoride is a compound that contains fluorine, a natural element. Using small amounts of fluoride on a regular basis can help prevent tooth decay. Fluoride inhibits loss of minerals from tooth enamel and encourages remineralization (strengthening areas that are weakened and beginning to develop cavities). Fluoride also affects bacteria that cause cavities, discouraging acid attacks that break down the tooth. Risk for decay is reduced even more when fluoride is combined with a healthy diet and good oral hygiene. Using fluoride for the prevention and control of decay has been proven over the past 70 years to be both safe and effective.
Fluoride can be found in any toothpaste with the ADA Seal of Approval, as well as in drinking water across the United States. To ensure you’re getting the appropriate amount of fluoride, having a professionally applied fluoride treatment during your next checkup is possible if you are concerned you are not getting adequate amounts at home.
